COVID-19 Booster Shots and Flu Shots Again Available at Allamakee Public Health

Veterans Memorial Hospital Community and Home Care/Allamakee Public Health is again restocked with COVID-19 booster immunizations and will again be holding another walk-in COVID immunization clinic for those meeting the requirements outlined below.  (We will NOT be vaccinating ages 5-11 at this time.  Please see below for future youth clinics.)

On Thursday, November 18, from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. (or until supply runs out) a walk-in clinic for Moderna and Pfizer COVID 19 vaccine as well as flu vaccine will be held.  At this time people can receive their first, second or boost dose of COVID vaccine. Moderna and flu vaccine will be given in the lower level of the hospital (along the golf course side). Pfizer and flu vaccine will be given in the Meditation room in the main entrance of the hospital. Please wear a mask and bring your vaccination card as well as any insurance cards you may have.

The booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccination is available for all those who meet the following criteria:

It must also be at least six months from your last dose of the COVID vaccine.

The CDC states it is perfectly acceptable to receive another brand of COVID vaccine than what you initially received for your primary series. For instance, if your first two doses of COVID vaccine was Moderna it is acceptable to receive Pfizer for your boost dose if you wish.

COVID Vaccine Clinics for Ages 5-11

On Saturday, November 20th from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (or until supply runs out) AND on Wednesday, December 1, from 3-7 p.m. (or until supply runs out) walk-in clinics for Pfizer vaccine for ages 5-11 only will be held at the main entrance of Veterans Memorial Hospital.  Flu vaccine will also be available.  These immunization clinics will be held in the lower level of the hospital (along the golf course side). Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Everyone will need to wear a mask and bring any insurance cards you may have. The Pfizer vaccine series for ages 5-11 is a two-part series. First and second doses of Pfizer vaccine need to be separated by at least 21 days.

COVID immunization clinics for all stages of the vaccine will continue to be held each Friday afternoon, including the Friday following Thanksgiving, at Veterans Memorial Hospital.  For these Friday clinics, an appointment is necessary by calling 568-5660.
