Iowa is currently vaccinating individuals in Phase 1A, which includes health care personnel and residents and staff of long-term care facilities. With the vaccination of Phase 1A moving closer to completion, it is time to focus attention on Phase 1B.
IDPH has updated the Phase 1B priority group to include Iowans age 65 and over; however, vaccine remains in short supply. This means not everyone in Phase 1B will be able to get vaccine right away. To help balance vaccine supply with the Phase 1B demands, IDPH has implemented a tiered prioritization, outlined in the diagram below. IDPH remains in close contact with our federal partners to communicate Iowa’s need for additional vaccines.
Please note: THERE IS NO WAITING LIST OF NAMES TO RECEIVE THE VACCINE. We plan to hold immunization clinics throughout the county, but are currently unable to finalize schedules for these clinics until the vaccine is received at our location. As we know more information, we will keep the public informed. Please refer to local media outlets such as the newspaper, radio, social media, and the Veterans Memorial Hospital webpage for updated news and information on upcoming vaccination clinics.
Please continue to also follow these safeguards:
- Wear a mask or face covering when in public
- Practice social distancing with anyone outside of your household
- Wash your hands frequently and/or use hand sanitizer
- Stay home if you are feeling unwell
