EMS Supervisor: One full-time position available to direct the daily operation of the ambulance service and serve as a liaison to support and coordinate the activities with area ambulance/rescue squads, aero-medical transport services, and tertiary care centers.  Responsibilities include policy development, providing educational programming, maintaining supplies and equipment, actively taking ambulance call and assisting in ER, as well as managing the EMS staff. Qualifications include current Iowa EMT-P paramedic license and current driver’s license.  Minimum two years paramedic experience required with previous management experience preferred.

Paramedic or Paramedic Student: One full-time position plus PRN positions available.  Responsible for providing emergency medical care for 911 calls, transfers and working in the ED under the supervision of an RN.  Qualifications include current paramedic certification from Iowa Department of Public Health Bureau of Emergency and Trauma or National Registry Paramedic.  Paramedic students will be considered for this position.  Must have valid Iowa driver’s license with good driving record.  BLS, ACLS and PALS are required.  NRP is also required within one year of hire.

Certified Medical Assistant or LPN: One full-time position available for a certified medical assistant or an LPN for the medical clinic.  Responsibilities include assisting the Provider during the exam and treatment of the patient, assisting the patient after the exam to ensure understanding and compliance with Provider instructions, performing routine laboratory procedures to include collection and preparation of specimens as well as recording information in electronic medical recordkeeping system, scheduling appointments and other administrative duties.  Excellent organization, telephone, computer and communication skills a must.  Medical Assistant certification or current LPN license required.  Previous experience preferred.

Home Care Nurse: One part-time position, two or three days a week, available for a registered nurse, providing services weekdays to our Community and Home Care clients in the Allamakee County area, with minimal evening and weekend call.  Nurse must have the ability to travel to patient’s homes.  Qualifications include current Iowa RN licensure/eligibility with previous home care or med/surg experience preferred.

Nurse Practitioner, ARNP or Physician Assistant, PA:  One full-time, 36 hour per week position  available providing emergency care in the hospital’s ER.  Must have at least two years experience in emergency department setting providing care to all patients who present in the ER.  Qualifications include current Iowa ARNP or PA licensure with excellent clinical, organizational, communication, team and leadership skills. Certification requirements include BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and ATLS.

C.N.A.: One full-time position available for a certified nurse assistant (C.N.A.) working primarily three 12 hour evening shifts per week with some daytime hours and every third weekend.  Responsibilities include direct patient care and meal assistance.  Qualifications include current C.N.A. with two-years related experience preferred.

EMT’s and Ambulance Drivers: We have an URGENT need for Ambulance drivers and EMT’S.  If you have a desire to help your community, please call Veterans Memorial Hospital at 563-568-3411.  All shifts available.  Ambulance Driver requirements are a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.  CPR is also required and is offered at the hospital.  EMT’s have same requirements plus current EMT certification from the state of Iowa.
