Behavioral Health Counselor:  One full time position in the Waukon Medical Clinic. The Behavioral Health Family Counselor will work collaboratively as an allied team member of the clinical team to provide patient-centered care. The BH Family Counselor is an essential care team member and will be active in implementing best practices in the care of all patients This position will be responsible for  maintaining accurate and concise records for client activity, conduct counseling services as directed by the patient’s primary care provider or the patient’s behavioral health specialist, will evaluate the need for and provide emotional and spiritual support to clients and families as well as conducts individual counseling sessions for patients as indicated by the treatment plan. Education: Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), or Licensed Social Worker with a master’s degree from an accredited school of Social Work. Education/ Experience Requirements:   Must be licensed or certified as a Marriage and Family Therapist or a Mental Health Counselor in the state of Iowa.  Two years of relevant experience or comparable combined experience required. Experience in a Rural Health Clinic preferred.  Current CPR certification required. Current Iowa License or ability to obtain an Iowa license before the start of employment. Adult and Pediatric training are required and experience with all age groups preferred. Additional training is preferred in the following areas: Trauma-informed, Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Therapy for personality disorders, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Cognitive processing therapy (CPT).

Certified Medical Assistant / LPN (Waukon Clinic): The individual filling this fulltime, 32 hour per week position will work closely with Providers offering patient-centered care. They will assist with the planning, delivery, coordination, and tracking of patient care. They will prepare the patient for exams, assist the Provider during the exam and treatment of the patient, and assist the patient after the exam to ensure understanding and compliance with Provider instructions. Performs routine laboratory procedures including collection and preparation of specimens. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Practical Nursing License Certified Medical Assistant through one of the following:  American Association of Medical Assistants as a CMA, National Health career Association as a CMA, National Center for Competency Testing as a National CMA, American Medical Technologist as a Registered Medical Assistant, National Association for Health Professionals as a Nationally Registered CMA

Clinic Phlebotomist: The Clinic Phlebotomy Tech assists with the delivery, coordination, and tracking of patient care. They assist the care team during patient appointments performing routine laboratory procedures including collection and preparation of specimens. The Clinic Phlebotomy tech will also be an integral part of the team assisting with coordination of care assignments as assigned. The Clinic Phlebotomy Tech will be the main source of contact between the team and the lab when process changes or updates occur to ensure everyone is informed and up to date. They will assist with the collection and preparation of laboratory specimens, correctly document the collection in the EMR system, and deliver the specimens promptly to the VMH laboratory. This is a full time 32 hour per week position.  Education:  High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Successful completion of a phlebotomy training course, or MLT equivalency or eligibility preferred. Experience: 2 or more years with clinical lab experience in a health care setting preferred.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) ER Tech: One Full-time position for the split role of EMT and ER Technician in the hospital’s Emergency Department.  Job duties include a variety of EMS response types maximizing the use of EMS skills in the ambulance, in addition to direct patient care, registration and other required documentation pertinent to the Emergency Department.  Current Iowa EMT license or NREMT certification and valid driver’s license with knowledge of basic practice relating to patient care required.  Monthly formal EMS education credit provided with paid attendance of monthly meetings in addition to competitive wages, flexible hours, and complete hospital benefit package.  For more information, contact Jacob Dougherty, Paramedic, EMS Manager or Callie Thorson, ER Manager at (563)568-3411.

ER Provider (Nurse Practitioner, ARNP or Physician Assistant, PA)One full-time, 36 hour per week position available providing emergency care in the hospital’s ER.  Must have at least two years’ experience in emergency department setting providing care to all patients who present in the ER.  Qualifications include current Iowa ARNP or PA licensure with excellent clinical, organizational, communication, team and leadership skills.   Certification requirements include BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and ATLS.

Housekeeper: Responsible for performing all housekeeping and laundry functions for the hospital, clinics, and other outside contracts. Duties include scrubbing, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, floor care and related tasks following established cleaning and disinfecting protocols. This is a full-time position . Education:  High School Diploma or Equivalent

Nurse Navigator (RN/ LPN):   Will work collaboratively as an active member of the clinical care teams to provide a team-based approach to delivering patient-centered care, specifically to our Medicaid, Medicare, and High-Risk patient populations. The RN/LPN will systematically and continuously collect and assess data related to the patient’s health status to develop, execute, and evaluate the plan of care to complete a comprehensive review of their chronic care management. The RN /LPN will communicate effectively with patients and/or their families/representatives to report any test results, schedule additional appointments, and be a liaison between the patient and the Providers. The RN/LPN will assist with direct patient care and be expected to be a leader in the growth of the organization. This is a Full time (40 hpw) position based at our Waukon Clinic.  Education: Minimum graduate from an approved school of Practical Nursing. Current LPN License by the Iowa Board of Nursing. Preferred, Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing and a graduate from an accredited college is required. Active Iowa RN License and CPR certification is required.

Paramedic or Paramedic Student: Veterans Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service currently has one full-time Paramedic position available, based in the Emergency Department, providing pre-hospital 911 response, Paramedic Intercepts with outlying services, and Inter-facility transports. Our Paramedics provide support facility-wide including respiratory therapy duties and assistance on the medical floor. Qualifications: Current Iowa Paramedic licensure and a current driver’s license. Additional training may be required upon hire and will be provided. Veterans Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service is committed to sustaining relevance according to current EMS standards by possessing up-to-date equipment and by maintaining modern educational standards. Patient Access Supervisor: The Patients Access Supervisor will be responsible for successfully supervising the organizational and administrative operations of the Patient Access team for all hospital and clinic locations.  This position will float between the different locations within Patient Access and fill open shifts as needed.  The Patient Access Supervisor will register, schedule and process patients through the system while ensuring optimal patient flow. The Patient Access Supervisor will also ensure staff are meeting goals including first pass denials, registration quality, patient satisfaction, and POS (point of service) collections and establish a work schedule for the patient access team. They will provide ongoing feedback with staff to include daily huddles, revenue cycle and/or department meetings and individual rounding. This is a full time 38-hour week position. Education: High school graduate, Associate degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred, Medical Terminology knowledge preferred, Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 preferred. Experience:  1-year supervisory experience required and 2 years’ experience in revenue cycle preferred. 1-year supervisory experience required.

Patient Access Associate: The Patient Access Associate is responsible for scheduling and patient registration at all VMH locations.  The Patient Access Associate is expected to understand hospital and clinic registration processes and will be expected to fill shifts at all locations. The Patient Access Associate is responsible for reminder phone calls, answering all incoming phone calls, and greeting patients and guests as they enter the buildings. The Patient Access Associate will ensure that all required forms are completed as part of the patient registration process, including verifying insurance eligibility.  The Patient Access Associate is also responsible for collecting co-pays or other forms of payment via cash/check/credit card.  A high level of attention to detail and superior customer service is a must. This is a full time, 36 hours per week position.  Education: Minimum high school graduate or equivalent preferred. Experience: Previous experience receptionist or registration in a healthcare setting preferred.

Physical Therapist – The Physical Therapist will be performing outpatient and home health physical therapy services. They will assess, treat, and monitor patients; perform all necessary paperwork and reports, plan and develop new programs; maintain communication with patient, patient’s family and physicians and contract site staff. This is a full-time position Education Requirements: Bachelors (B.A., B.S.), master’s degree (M.A., M.S.) or Doctorate (DPT) in Physical Therapy Experience. Additional Requirements:  Physical Therapy board certification and licensure according to state regulations. Supervisor’s license as required by the state Valid Driver’s license.

Radiologic Technologist: One full-time position in our Radiology Department. Position responsibilities include but are not limited to, performing radiographs on patients according to Doctor’s/Radiologist’s orders, performs other procedures as needed including mammography, CT, MRI, bone densitometry, fluoroscopy, and other related services. Demonstrates good working knowledge of radiation protection, patient transportation, and sterile procedures. Qualifications: associate degree in Radiology or equivalent, registered/registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT). Must possess and maintain a State of Iowa Permit to Practice. Clinical training as required by the State of Iowa to obtain work a permit. Previous hospital experience in general radiographic procedures is preferred.

Registered Nurse/LPN: One full-time RN/LPN position available working 36 hours per week. This position will require working rotating days and evenings and every third weekend. Candidates will also work two holidays per year.  Current Iowa RN licensure required.

Temporary Radiologic Technologist: Two temporary positions starting in June and working for 15- 16 weeks.
