Veterans Memorial Healthcare Foundation

The Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation was incorporated on July 26, 1982, for the purpose of fundraising for hospital and local health care needs. Nearly 20 volunteers meet regularly to plan and promote fundraising events as well as identify and help meet medical needs in the area communities served by Veterans Memorial Hospital.

Memorials
Memorials are a meaningful, considerate gift welcomed by the Foundation in memory of someone who has passed, or in honor of a special event or achievement. Memorials may be left at local visitations or may be sent directly to Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation, 40 First St. SE, Waukon, 52172. They may also be dropped off at the main entrance to the hospital. Please be sure to include the name you wish your memorial to recognize. The Foundation treasurer will then send a letter of receipt to you as well as the family of the person(s) you are remembering or honoring.   Check out what’s happening!

Annual Golf Tournament
The Foundation sponsors an annual Three-Person Best Shot Golf Tournament each June, the Monday following Father’s Day. Teams of three play 18 holes of golf at the Waukon Golf and Country Club with breakfast, lunch and dinner plus prizes provided for everyone!

Christmas Fantasy
Each November, two weeks before Thanksgiving, a special four-day Christmas Fantasy is planned by the Foundation. This event hosts over 50 beautifully and creatively decorated Christmas trees, as well as over 100 silent auction items which make great Christmas gifts! The fantasy includes a “Tingle ‘N Mingle” happy hour event on Friday night, Noon luncheons on both Saturday and Monday, a wine, cheese and dessert event on Saturday night as well as general admission showings of the spectacular event throughout the weekend!
Anyone in the area is welcome to participate by decorating or attending this event, or both. Please call Veterans Memorial Hospital at 563-568-3411 for more information and details.

Caring for All Donor Wall
The Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation unveiled a new donor wall in 2011 to acknowledge all of the generous donors to the hospital since the capital campaign in 1998. This donor wall, located in the main hospital lobby, thanks those donors who have contributed either in one large donation or through regular cumulative annual donations. Memorial donations of $500 or over are engraved on a block with up to seven other names.
All general donations of $1000 and over are also included on the wall. These may include estates and bequests, or may be cumulative from year to year in the annual appeal mailing. Once the donor’s name is on the wall, the donor may have his or her name added again to the wall once they have reached the next cumulative level of recognition. The wall is updated each year.

The Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation is a 501(c)(3) entity by IRS code. Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible. Memorials and donations may be sent to:
