Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (Clinic)
Veterans Memorial Clinic is looking for a kind, compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our team! In this part-time role, you will work closely with providers to deliver patient-centered care, supporting all aspects of the patient experience—from intake and examination to treatment, follow-up, and education. Responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, assisting providers with procedures, administering medications and injections, collecting and preparing lab specimens, and ensuring accurate documentation in the EHR system.
Education: graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a primary care clinic is preferred.
Clinic Phlebotomist (Waukon Clinic)
Veterans Memorial Hospital & Clinics is seeking a full time (32 hpw) dedicated and compassionate Clinic Phlebotomist to join our patient-centered clinical care team. This vital role works in collaboration with providers, clinical staff, and laboratory teams to ensure high-quality care and seamless coordination for our patients. The Phlebotomist will assist during patient appointments, performing routine laboratory procedures including specimen collection and preparation, as well as supporting care coordination and follow-up. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented team player who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is committed to delivering exceptional care.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with preference given to candidates who have completed a phlebotomy training program or hold MLT credentials.
Experience: At least two years of clinical lab experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Custodial Maintenance Worker
Are you a hands-on, dependable worker who takes pride in keeping facilities clean, safe, and welcoming? We’re seeking a Full Time Custodial Maintenance Worker to join our hospital maintenance team. In this vital role, you’ll help ensure our hospitals and clinics remain well-maintained inside and out caring for equipment, performing floor care, assisting with snow removal and lawn upkeep, and even supporting non-emergency patient transport. Every day is different, and your efforts directly impact on the comfort and safety of our patients, visitors, and staff.
Experience: Prior custodial or maintenance experience in a healthcare setting is a plus, but we provide support and training. A valid driver’s license is required.
EMS Working Manager
Veterans Memorial Hospital (VMH) is seeking FT EMS Working Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Ambulance Service. The EMS Manager will be a working manager who will lead a dedicated team while collaborating closely with the ER Manager and other emergency services. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Operational Oversight: directing the daily operations of the VMH Ambulance Service and coordinating with local agencies to ensure smooth transitions of care. Attend county EMS related meetings.
Administrative Duties: Prepare and manage department budgets to maintain cost efficiency and expense containment. Review ambulance patient care reports and charges for accuracy and appropriateness. Keep accurate and up to date stats. Regularly assess and update ambulance chargemaster items to reflect changes in EMS operations costs. Determine staffing needs, schedule staff, and handle payroll entries in accordance with policies. Address complaints and inquiries related to EMS services. Provide feedback on job performance, including coaching, corrective actions, and annual performance appraisals for staff.
Education: (required) High school diploma or equivalent, Advanced EMT licensure (Paramedic preferred). BLS, ACLS, PALS, EVOC and additional certifications as required.
Experience: 2+ years as an Advanced EMT/Paramedic, supervisory experience preferred. Strong knowledge of EMS protocols, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
EMT / ER Technician
Join our fast-paced Emergency Department as a full-time EMT in a dynamic split role that combines EMS response with ER Technician duties. You’ll apply your skills both in the field and in-hospital—responding to a wide range of emergency calls, collecting patient samples, assisting with registration, and handling critical care documentation. This is a unique opportunity to expand your experience in both pre-hospital and clinical emergency care.

Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)
Veterans Memorial Hospital is seeking a full-time (36 hpw) Health Unit Coordinator to support our dedicated nursing staff by performing vital clerical and scheduling duties that help ensure the smooth operation of our care units. Maintenance Worker

In this vital role, you’ll assist in maintaining the building, equipment, and grounds—handling everything from preventative maintenance and minor repairs to groundskeeping and emergency on-call support. Your work will directly support a safe and healing environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
You’ll work closely with a wide range of hospital departments, vendors, and service technicians, performing tasks such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical maintenance, and even ambulance driving on rotation.

Paramedic
Veterans Memorial Hospital & Clinics is seeking dedicated Paramedics to provide critical pre-hospital emergency care and in-hospital support in our Emergency Department and Med-Surg units. Under the supervision of the EMS Manager and Medical Director, you will respond to 911 calls, patient transfers, and emergency situations, delivering care at your certified level of training. In addition to ambulance operations, you’ll assist with patient care under RN supervision, perform vital assessments, document care in electronic records, and contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of our emergency services.
Education: a high school diploma or GED, current Paramedic certification (Iowa or NREMT), and up-to-date BLS, EVOC, and Mandatory Reporter training. ACLS certification, with PALS and NRP preferred.
Experience: in EMS or a healthcare setting is a plus, and Critical Care Paramedic endorsement is desirable.

Physical Therapist
The Physical Therapist will be performing outpatient and home health physical therapy services. They will assess, treat, and monitor patients; perform all necessary paperwork and reports, plan and develop new programs; maintain communication with patient, patient’s family and physicians and contract site staff. This is a full-time position.
Education Requirements: Bachelors (B.A., B.S.), master’s degree (M.A., M.S.) or Doctorate (DPT) in Physical Therapy Experience.
Additional Requirements: Physical Therapy board certification and licensure according to state regulations. Supervisor’s license as required by the state Valid Driver’s license.
Radiologic Technologist
We are seeking a full time skilled and dedicated Radiologic Technologist to join our team and provide essential diagnostic imaging services. In this role, you will acquire radiographs using various modalities, ensuring proper patient positioning and technique to obtain high-quality diagnostic images. You will work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other medical staff to support patient diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining radiology equipment, following safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure, and maintaining accurate imaging records. This position involves performing procedures such as mammography, CT, MRI, bone densitometry, and fluoroscopy, as well as operating portable radiology equipment in various clinical settings.
Education: Associate's degree in Radiology or an equivalent, be registered or registry-eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), and hold a valid State of Iowa Permit to Practice.
Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred, along with a solid understanding of anatomy, radiation protection, and medical imaging equipment. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, excellent communication and customer service skills, and a commitment to patient safety and confidentiality are essential.
Reimbursement Analyst
Veterans Memorial Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Reimbursement Analyst to help ensure we receive accurate payment for the care we deliver. In this critical role, you’ll manage our Chargemaster, analyze third-party reimbursements, and monitor compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care contracts. Your expertise will drive revenue optimization and financial accuracy, supporting both our patients and our mission.
Education: An associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, Healthcare Administration, or RHIT is required, along with a commitment to certification within the first year. Join us and play a vital part in keeping our hospital financially strong and compliant.
Experience: 2–3 years of experience in healthcare reimbursement or revenue cycle—preferably in a critical access hospital—who understands CPT, HCPCS, and revenue codes. Proficiency in Excel, strong analytical skills, and a collaborative mindset are essential
