Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Veterans Memorial Hospital is looking for an experienced and strategic financial leader to join our team as Chief Financial Officer. This position provides an opportunity to play a key role in the financial strength and long-term success of our hospital while working closely with the CEO, Board, and leadership team. We are seeking a CFO who is knowledgeable in healthcare finance, understands the unique financial challenges of a Critical Access Hospital, and can use financial data and analysis to support sound business decisions and organizational growth.

As part of our leadership team, you will oversee the hospital's financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, revenue cycle, reimbursement, financial reporting, and compliance. You will also lead financial planning and analysis, monitor key performance indicators, evaluate new service opportunities, and provide strategic financial guidance to hospital leadership.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field required. Master's degree or MBA preferred.

Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive healthcare financial leadership experience. Strong knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and Medicare Cost Reports required. Critical Access Hospital experience highly preferred.

Insurance Billing Specialist

Veterans Memorial Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Billing Specialist to join our Business Office team. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely billing of insurance claims, following up on unpaid or denied claims, resolving billing issues, and helping maximize reimbursement from government and commercial payers. You'll work closely with clinical, registration, coding, and revenue cycle staff while utilizing Epic and other billing systems to ensure claims are processed efficiently and in compliance with payer requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with previous medical billing, insurance follow-up, or revenue cycle experience preferred.

Medical Assistant (MA)

Veterans Memorial Hospital and Clinics is looking for a full-time (32 HPW) Medical Assistant. As a Medical Assistant you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care! In this position, you will work closely with Providers to support patients throughout their visit—from preparing them for exams and collecting vital information to assisting with procedures and follow-up care. You’ll help ensure a smooth and positive patient experience by managing communication with patients and pharmacies, performing routine lab procedures, documenting accurately in the EMR, and keeping exam rooms stocked, clean, and ready for care. Paramedic - Full-Time, Weekend Package and PRN

Veterans Memorial Hospital & Clinics is seeking dedicated Paramedics to provide critical pre-hospital emergency care and in-hospital support in our Emergency Department and Med-Surg units. Under the supervision of the EMS Manager and Medical Director, you will respond to 911 calls, patient transfers, and emergency situations, delivering care at your certified level of training. In addition to ambulance operations, you’ll assist with patient care under RN supervision, perform vital assessments, document care in electronic records, and contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of our emergency services.

Education: a high school diploma or GED, current Paramedic certification (Iowa or NREMT), and up-to-date BLS, EVOC, and Mandatory Reporter training. ACLS certification, with PALS and NRP preferred.

Experience: in EMS or a healthcare setting is a plus, and Critical Care Paramedic endorsement is desirable.

Physical Therapist

Education: Candidates must hold a degree in Physical Therapy (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate) and possess current licensure in accordance with state regulations.

Primary Care Physician with OB

Veterans Memorial Hospital is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Primary Care Physician with OB to join our growing medical team. This position provides an opportunity to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care in our newly renovated clinics while building meaningful relationships with patients and families. The physician will provide primary care to patients of all ages, along with prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care.

Our practice offers an experienced, collegial team with dedicated nursing and medical assistant support. Surgical OB procedures are optional and not required, with strong specialty support including General Surgery and CRNA coverage.  Specialty interests are encouraged and supported.

Education: Graduate of an accredited medical school (MD or DO). Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine. Current Iowa physician licensure or eligibility. Active DEA license. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification/eligibility.

Experience: OB training and experience preferred. Primary Care or Urgent Care experience preferred. New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Radiologic Technologist 

We are seeking a full time skilled and dedicated Radiologic Technologist to join our team and provide essential diagnostic imaging services. In this role, you will acquire radiographs using various modalities, ensuring proper patient positioning and technique to obtain high-quality diagnostic images. You will work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other medical staff to support patient diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining radiology equipment, following safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure, and maintaining accurate imaging records. This position involves performing  procedures such as mammography, CT, MRI, bone densitometry, and fluoroscopy, as well as operating portable radiology equipment in various clinical settings.

Education: Associate's degree in Radiology or an equivalent, be registered or registry-eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), and hold a valid State of Iowa Permit to Practice.

Experience:  Previous hospital experience is preferred, along with a solid understanding of anatomy, radiation protection, and medical imaging equipment. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, excellent communication and customer service skills, and a commitment to patient safety and confidentiality are essential. 

Registered Nurse - Night Shift

Veterans Memorial Hospital and Clinics is looking for full-time night shift RN to join our dedicated night shift team. This position is 36 hours per week, working every 3rd weekend. Here, you’ll provide exceptional care across Medical-Surgical, OB, and ER departments. As a Staff RN, you will continually assess and address patients’ physical, emotional, and educational needs while collaborating closely with providers, support staff, and families. You’ll utilize your professional judgment in emergency and high-acuity situations, implement and document nursing and medical care accurately, and help ensure the highest standards of patient safety and confidentiality.

This full-time night position requires graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current RN licensure (or eligibility) in the State of Iowa. BLS and ACLS certifications are required and are available to obtain upon hire; additional certifications including PALS, TNCC (ER), FHM and NRP (OB) are required based on department. We’re looking for an RN with strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and the composure to remain calm and focused in critical situations.
