Additional Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Angie Taylor, PMHNP, Joins Waukon Medical Clinic for Total of three Providers to Meet Growing Need

Posted October 15, 2025
Angie Taylor, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, will join the Veterans Memorial Hospital and Clinics Behavioral Health team the last week of October, building a strong and accessible behavioral health care team of three providers to meet the growing demand for these services. Angie will be seeing patients in both the Waukon Clinic and Postville Clinic locations. Patients can self-refer to see Angie, or any member of the behavioral health team, by calling the Waukon Clinic at 563-568-5530 or the Postville Clinic at 563-864-7221 to set up their first appointment.

A second new Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Angie Taylor, PMHNP, will join the Veterans Memorial Hospital and Clinics health care team next week, for a total of three behavioral health providers to help meet the great demand for these services.  Angie will be seeing patients in the Waukon Clinic as well as the Postville Clinic.  She joins Tara Fink, who began these local services three years ago, and Janet Hunter who also joined this team earlier this month, in making up this strong behavioral health team.

Angie was born and raised in Elgin, Iowa. She has spent the last nearly 25 years as a nurse at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester where she has worked a variety of nursing roles in emergency, med-surge, obstetrics, outpatient psychiatry and leadership.  She chose to become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) to provide a positive impact and improve quality of life for individuals and the community.

“Years of nursing has taught me how mental wellbeing affects multiple aspects of one’s life including physical health,” states Angie.  “Behavioral health is an expanding service. I am excited to see how we can best meet the community needs and what services will be offered in the future.”

Angie obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Allen College in Waterloo, then graduated from Walden University with her graduate degree as a nurse practitioner.  “The warmth and compassion of the VMH team along with a progressive, rural environment is what drew me to this facility,” adds Angie.

This behavioral health team of Angie, Janet Hunter and Tara Fink, will work with anyone of any age.  Typically in the first appointment, these providers will conduct roughly an hour-long assessment to formulate a diagnosis after which the patient will receive psychoeducation and treatment options including suggestions for natural treatments and lifestyle changes as well as prescribed medication, when needed.

“We are excited to welcome Angela Taylor, PMHNP, to our VMH Clinic team later this month as our third behavioral health provider,” announces Laura Clinic, Waukon and Postville Clinic Director. “Angela joins Tara Fink, PMHNP, and Janet Hunter, PMHNP, in providing comprehensive care focused on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of our patients, while working side-by-side with our primary care providers. With three dedicated providers, we are proud to offer improved access to mental health care for our community.”

In November, Angie will be available to begin seeing patients of any age who are seeking help and advice.  Patients can self-refer to see Angie or any of the three members of the behavioral health team, by calling the Waukon Clinic at 563-568-5530 or the Postville Clinic at 563-864-7221 to set up an appointment.
