Donations continue to be accepted into the new year, but those wanting to make a year-end donation for tax purposes are still welcome to do so.

Three anonymous donations have been received by the Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation for the new Postville Medical Clinic, bringing the total raised now up to $165,000.

Three different donors from the area have each gifted a $5,000 donation for an additional $15,000 total dollars raised.  These donations bring the Foundation closer to that overall goal of $200,000 and closer to the reality of a new Postville Medical Clinic.

“We have three more donors who have each contributed $5,000 towards this project, but have chosen to remain anonymous,” states Beth Shafer, Growth and Development Coordinator for Veterans Memorial Hospital.  “These gifts represent a strong show of community support and play an important role in moving the clinic expansion closer to its fundraising goal, ensuring continued access to quality medical care for local families.”

The new Clinic will have an additional three exam rooms for a total of five, plus a new procedure room and lab area.  There will also be a new behavioral health clinic area designed for private consultations in a more comfortable, confidential atmosphere, as well as additional office space.   This space is greatly needed as the number of providers has now increased to a total of five family practice providers and two behavioral health providers.  Many days two or three providers are now working in the current location, allowing them just one exam room each to work from which limits the number of patients who can be seen.

Construction on the new clinic is scheduled to begin once this goal is reached. Donations continue to be accepted into the new year, but those wanting to make a year-end donation for tax purposes are welcome to do so.
