New Postville Medical Clinic Open House September 24

The NEW Veterans Memorial Hospital Medical Clinic-Postville will be opening on Monday, September 28. An open house will be hosted by the clinic staff on Thursday, September 24, just a few days before opening day. All area communities are invited to attend the open house from 4:30-6:30. The NEW Postville Clinic is located in the former Upper Explorerland building at 134 West Green Street, right next door to the current clinic location. Veterans Memorial Hospital credits the numerous donors to this project, surpassing the goal of $200,000, which made this dream a reality.

Tours of the new facility will be given by the clinic staff including Medical Assistants Selena Perez and Sandy Lopez, and Alisha Henderson, RN. Many of the medical providers who care for patients in the clinic will also be on-site. Currently, the Postville Medical Clinic medical staff consists of Alex Berns, NP; Minji Ranson, NP; Hannah Kelly, NP; Mason Kerian, NP; Katy Maker, NP and Nurse Midwife, and now Dr. Olaitan Akinboboye has joined this team as a physician. He is available to see patients three days per week, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday at the Postville Medical Clinic. With his arrival, the Postville Medical clinic now has two medical providers available each day to care for patients, plus the clinic has extended their hours. The new hours will be Monday and Wednesday, 7am-5pm and Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8am-5pm. Walk-in’s are always welcome. The Postville Clinic also remains open during the lunch hour.

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, Tara Fink, PMHNP, and Angela Taylor, PMHNP, also provide behavioral health care at the clinic each week.

Postville Clinic Trivia and giveaways will be offered throughout the night, along with complimentary blood pressure checks, blood sugar/diabetes tests and hemoglobin tests, all with immediate results.  Flu shots will also be offered to any adults who would like to receive one.

This open house has been planned at the same time as the final Postville Farmer’s Market event for the season, as an additional attraction to the community that evening.

Both the Veterans Memorial Hospital Postville and Waukon Clinics work closely, sharing many services and staff, ensuring patients are seen by a medical provider at one location or the other as soon as possible with great continuity of care. Both clinics ensure providers will be available at both locations, covering for vacations and time off. Scheduling can also be done for both clinics by calling either location.
