Greater Choice of Providers at both VMH Waukon and Postville Medical Clinics Allow for Extended Clinic Hours

With the recent recruitment of three more family practice medical providers, the hours of care at both the Postville and Waukon Clinics have been extended as of February 23.
Both family nurse practitioners Hannah (Gesing) Kelly, NP, and Mason (Hermeier) Kerian, NP, joined the staff, caring for patients at both the Waukon and Clinic locations. Both of these providers spend two days each week at each of the Waukon and Postville Clinics. They join nurse practitioners Alex Berns, NP; Minji Ransom, NP; and Katy Maker, NP and Nurse Midwife, in seeing patients at both the Waukon and Postville Clinic locations.
Dr. John Swords joined the Waukon Clinic staff in November, caring for patients at the Waukon Clinic each day of the week. Dr. Dave Schwartz and Sue McMillan, NP, also see patients solely in the Waukon Clinic.
Extended hours at both of these clinics began this week, thanks to these new, additional providers who have joined the clinics recently. These extended hours now offer greater flexibility for seeing a medical provider earlier and later in the day, as well as keep both clinics open throughout the lunch hour.
The hours at the Postville Medical Clinic are now: Mondays 7am-5 pm, Tuesdays 8 am-5 pm, Wednesdays 7 am-3:30 pm, Thursdays 8 am-5 pm and Fridays 8 am-5 pm. The Postville Medical Clinic will now remain open through the noon hour. The clinic often has two medical providers available and a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner available once per week as well and walk-in patients can again be accepted in Postville thanks to these additional providers.
The Waukon Medical Clinic now has the following hours: Mondays 7:30 am – 7 pm; Tuesdays – Thursdays 7 am – 7 pm; and Fridays 7 am – 5 pm. The Waukon Clinic only has extended evening hours, from 4:30-6:30 pm, that are available for walk-in patients, without an appointment, who have acute, non-emergent needs such as the following: broken bones (other than hips or femurs), cough/cold, diarrhea, ear aches, fever, flu, minor burns, minor cuts, muscle strain, pink eye, rash/hives, removal of foreign body, sinus infection, skin infection, sore throat, urinary tract in and vomiting. With this being a walk-in clinic without any scheduled appointments, the wait time to see the provider may be longer. This evening time is also an opportunity to schedule clinic follow-up appointments with some of the providers.
To make an appointment to see a provider at the Veterans Memorial Hospital Waukon Medical Clinic, call 563-568-5530. Appointments at the Postville Medical Clinic may be taken by calling 563-864-7221.
