New Postville Clinic Physician Dr. Olaitan Akinboboye

The Veterans Memorial Hospital Postville Clinic is pleased to announce their new physician, Dr. Olaitan Akinboboye will begin seeing patients in the clinic July 14. Dr. Akinboboye will again add a physician choice to the clinic, following the retirement of Dr. Thomas McMullan last November. Dr. Akinboboye will join nurse practitioners Minji Ransom, NP; Katie Maker, NP/Nurse Midwife; Hannah Kelly, NP; Mason Kerian NP; and Alex Berns, NP, who all provide family medicine one to two days a week at the Postville Clinic as well as at the Waukon Clinic.
Dr. Akinboboye will offer family medicine solely at the Postville Clinic and will be available to see patients of all ages.
“I practice full-spectrum Family Medicine, providing comprehensive care for patients of all ages—from newborns to seniors. My practice includes preventive wellness exams, acute care for immediate illnesses, and long-term management of chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension,” states Dr. Akinboboye. “I am also passionate about health promotion and partnering with patients to improve their overall quality of life. After living and training in the Midwest for several years, my family and I were immediately drawn to Waukon’s warmth and strong sense of community.”
Dr. Akinboboye earned his medical degree from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria, then moved to the Midwest in the Unites States, where he completed an MPH in Epidemiology at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and a PhD in Public Health
at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Most recently, he completed his Family Medicine residency training at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine in Kalamazoo.
“I was born and raised in Festac Town, Lagos, Nigeria. Growing up in a vibrant, planned community known for its rich cultural history significantly shaped my perspective on the world,” explains Dr. Akinboboye. “It instilled in me a deep appreciation for different backgrounds and the importance of strong community ties, which I carry with me into my medical practice today.”
“I want my patients to know that I view healthcare as a true partnership. My goal is to provide compassionate, personalized care that treats you as an individual, not just a diagnosis. I believe that listening is the most important tool I have as a physician. Whether we are focused on wellness and prevention or managing a complex chronic condition, I am committed to providing practical, evidence-based care that fits your unique lifestyle. I am honored to serve the families of northeast Iowa and look forward to building long-term relationships rooted in trust, education, and a shared goal of keeping our community healthy and vibrant.”
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Akinboboye to the Veterans Memorial Hospital team. Having a dedicated physician for our Postville Clinic is a significant milestone and reflects the growth we have experienced since opening the Postville Clinic four years ago,” shares Laura Baxter, Chief Clinical Officer. “Dr. Akinboboye will join us just before we open the doors to our new Postville clinic facility at the end of September, making it an exciting time for our organization as we continue to expand services and strengthen access to healthcare in our community.”
Appointments are now being accepted for Dr. Akinboboye. Patients are invited to call the Postville Clinic to schedule an appointment with Dr. Olaitan Akinboboye at 563-864-7221.
